If you've never had laser hair removal before, it's normal to feel a little unsure about what actually happens in the room. Here's a straightforward walkthrough of what your first session on our Spectrum multi-platform laser system looks like, from booking to aftercare.
Before Your Appointment
We'll ask you to avoid sun exposure, self-tanner, and waxing or plucking (shaving is fine) for a couple of weeks before your session, since the laser targets hair at the root and needs the follicle intact. Come in with clean, product-free skin at the treatment area.
During the Consultation
Every new client starts with a free consultation, not a same-day treatment. We'll look at your skin and hair type, talk through your goals, and confirm the Spectrum system's settings are right for you before anything happens. This is also when new clients redeem their first free small-area session.
What the Treatment Feels Like
You'll wear protective eyewear, and the applicator will pass over the treatment area in short pulses. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick warm snap or a rubber-band flick against the skin — brief, not constant. Treatment time depends on the area; small areas like the underarms or upper lip take just a few minutes.
After Your Session
Mild redness or warmth right after treatment is normal and usually settles within a few hours. You'll want to avoid sun exposure and hot showers or saunas for a day or two. Hair doesn't fall out immediately — over the following 1–3 weeks, treated hairs shed naturally as part of the normal growth cycle.
How Many Sessions You'll Need
Hair grows in cycles, and laser only affects hair that's actively growing at the time of treatment. That's why most clients need 6–8 sessions spaced a few weeks apart to catch hair across all of its growth phases.
